Tuuri named Research Interest Section Chair for nutrition society

Georgianna Tuuri, associate professor in the School of Human Ecology, has been named Research Interest Section Chair for the American Society for Nutrition. The American Society for Nutrition (ASN) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing together the world's top researchers, clinical nutritionists and industry to advance our knowledge and application of nutrition for the sake of humans and animals.

Dr. Katherine Stamps Mitchell

Assistant Professor Katherine Stamps Mitchell received an award for her article entitled "Adolescents with Nonresident Fathers: Are Daughters More Disadvantaged Than Sons?" (co-authored with Alan Booth and Valarie King). Her article has been given the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) Men in Families Focus Group's award for Best Research Article on Men in Families by a New Professional. Katherine received the award at the NCFR annual conference in Minneapolis, MN in November.

HUEC faculty and students were honored by Gamma Sigma Delta at the annual spring awards banquet. Dr. Loren Marks and Dr. Sarah Pierce, associate professors in FCCS were named to the teacher merit honor roll. Anantha Padmaja Lakkakula, nutrition grad student received the graduate student merit award. Rachel Wise, a senior in TAM was named the outstanding senior.
